Suspended Microplastic in Sorsogon Bay Attributing <i>Perna viridis</i> and <i>Atrina pectinata</i> Contamination

Marine microplastic pollution is becoming more visible and pervasive in various aquatic environments species, including those intended for human consumption. The present study evaluated the occurrence of suspended microplastics surface waters, water column, bivalves, such as Perna viridis Atrina pectinata Sorsogon bay. Microplastics were detected all sampling sites bivalve tissue samples. Surface (0 m) column (5 samples taken from six stations representing spatial consideration bay showed an average 5.55 ± 1.74 items/m3 (range: 2.27 - 1.66 items/m3) 5.80 1.94 1.93 14.55 items/m3), respectively. mean number farmed mussels wild pen shells collected around varied 0.31 2.50 items/individual 0.93 4.27 shells.
